This information
is to assist licensed users of ITS' Help Desk application
to download, install and use Remedy software.
If you have a contract with ITS for Help Desk support
and you don't have a license and/or logon ID, OR
you need read access to our Remedy Help Desk application,
please contact our Customer Support Help Desk at

Note:
You must uninstall
any older version of Remedy
before installing the new version.

| To download:
- Create a new sub-directory titled "Remedy"
on your local hard drive under C:\Temp.
- Down load Remedy
6.0.1 Patch 1398 Update (25mb) and
save the file into the Remedy sub-directory
you created in step 1.
- The file should now be saved to your
local hard drive.
- Once the file is on your hard drive,
follow the instructions for Installing
Remedy.

| Uninstalling
Remedy |
If you
have macros, reports, or saved searches that
you do not want to lose, copy your ARcmds
folder and its contents to the C:\Temp directory
before uninstalling Remedy.
- Back up your ARcmds folder. (See the
note above.)
- Click on the "Start" button
in the lower left corner of your desktop.
Note: Depending on your PC operating
system, some of the uninstall instructions
may vary slightly.
- Select "Settings."
- Select "Control Panel."
- Double click on "Add/Remove Programs."
- Select "Remedy User 5.1.x."
- Click on the "Change/Remove"
button.
- Click on "OK."
- Select "Yes to All."
- Select "Yes."
- Select "OK."
- Select "OK."
- Select "Yes."
- Select "Yes."
- Select "Close."
- Restart your PC.

| Installing
Remedy |
1. You MUST
Uninstall any older
version of Remedy.
2. Create a directory under C:\Temp called
Remedy.
3. Download the
current Remedy ARS Program into the
C:\Temp\Remedy directory.
4. Extract the zip archive
- In the C:\Temp\Remedy directory Double-click
on
the file "user.zip."
- Select "I Agree"
- Click on the "Extract" icon.
(The extract directory will default to
the same directory.)
- Click on the "Extract" button.
- In the C:\Temp\Remedy directory, double-click
on the file "setup.exe."
5. Enter the following answers when asked
for them
during installation:
- EnglishPress "OK" and
wait for the InstallShield Wizard.
- Next
- Next
- Next
- You should be at the Choose Destination
Folders. The Main Install Folder should
be C:\Program Files\AR System. The Home
Folder should be C:\Program Files\AR System\HOME.
- Next
- If necessary, Add "itshp8".
- Press OK or Next
- Next
- Finish
Go to C:\Temp. Delete Remedy folder and
contents. Note:
Do not delete the ARcmds folder you copied
to C:\Temp until you are sure all your
macros and reports are working.
6. Restart your PC. |

| Managing
your account |
- Click on the Remedy Help Desk Icon.
- When the login prompt appears, type
your User Name (first name and last name,
in UPPER CASE letters).
- Select Accounts.
- Select Users.
- Select Add.
- Type your name in Upper Case.
- Select OK.
- Select OK.
- Select OK.
- You should be back to the Login prompt
now.
- Click on the User Name drop-down list
and select your name.
- Enter your password - if you have previously
created one.
- Select OK.
- Close Remedy ARS by clicking on the
top X in the upper right hand corner of
your screen.

| Setting
Your Remedy Password |
You should change your Remedy
password from time to time to assure your
privacy. These are the step-by-step instructions.
You can change your password from the Time
Sheet Control Panel, the Remedy Service
Console for Manager or Support. Any of these
will work fine, and you only need to change
your password in one place.
- Click on the Time Sheet icon on your
desktop.
- From the Time Sheets drop-down menu
on the Tool Bar, select Set Password.
- Enter your new password.
- Save.
- You will receive the following message:
Would you like to begin using the changed
password? This will cause you to lose
access to the other servers you are currently
logged in to.
- Click on Yes.
OR
- Click on the Help Desk Support or Help
Desk Manager icon on your desktop.
- From the Utilities drop-down menu on
the Tool Bar, select Set Password.
- Enter your new password.
- Save.
- You will receive the following message:
Would you like to begin using the changed
password? This will cause you to lose
access to the other servers you are currently
logged in to.
- Click on Yes.

ITS provides timely response to service and problem
requests from our customers. We recognize that comprehensive
information and procedures are needed to capture
and track requests and resolve problems. We use Remedy
Help Desk™, to help us meet our problem management
requirements.
ITS also provides Remedy Help Desk™ as a product
to customers who have arranged for help desk services
from ITS. Some agencies using these contracted services
are: The Dept of Commerce, Health, Human Services, and
Fleet Operations. ITS creates and dispatches Help Desk
Cases for these agencies.
